This lecture focuses on the analysis of grammatical differences between English and German in a systematic way. These will include the structure of different phrases, the respective status of auxiliaries, the grammar of (residual) verb-second effects and especially certain interpretive effects. Some basic knowledge of syntactic structure as from an introduction to syntax is expected.
