Inhalt
Kommentar

The seminar will have both theoretical and practical parts. The work will be organised in form of small projects that can be carried out in groups of 2-3 students. Individual work is also possible. In the end, every student needs to deliver a thesis on one of the aspects discussed/analysed in the projects. The deadline is on the 15th of October 2017.

Lerninhalte

In this seminar, we will first learn the main concepts of discourse, including different approaches on the discourse-related linguistic phenomena. The overview of discourse theories will be provided from the point of view of relations and conceptions. We will compare different theories and approaches, also from a multilingual perspective. Then, we will use corpus-based methods to analyse these phenomena in both non-translated and translated texts, including those produced with machine translation systems.
