First session on Tue 23 April. All the up-to date info about this course is not here but in Moodle: https://moodle.uni-saarland.de/course/view.php?id=9528

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The course will deal with a selection of topics recently discussed in analytic ethics and practical philosophy in general. It will thus make you acquainted with a wider range of questions than a more conventional, monothematic course does. More information on the topics will be made available by April 2024.

It is vital for the sessions that everybody be prepared and able to contribute. Please take part in this course only if you are willing to plough through the texts for each session and talk about them in the session: to summarize them, to ask and answer questions about them, etc.

Sessions with Christoph Fehige will take place on the following Tuesdays: 23 April, 7 May, 21 May – and a written exam on 4 June. The questions in the exam will be in English; you can reply in English or German, as you like.

Sessions with Jonas Harney will take place on the following Tuesdays: 25 June, 9 July, 23 July. A short essay, written in English or German, needs to be handed in by 1 September.

On Tuesday 11 June, there will be an open session of the seminar on career opportunities in academic philosophy. This session is primarily addressed to individuals who are considering pursuing a PhD in Philosophy or who are interested in learning more about it.

Grades: You pass the course if and only if you pass both the written exam and the essay. If you pass them both, your grade will be the arithmetic mean of the grade achieved in the written exam and the grade achieved in the essay.

This text about the course has been written in January 2024. It will be updated in Moodle. Versions of this text that you do not read in Moodle may well be out of date.
