Academic skills are necessary to study successfully. Moreover, the ability to conduct sound academic work has become a key competency on the job market because ever more professions require profound analytical skills.
However, students often cannot easily grasp what exactly they are asked to do when assigned papers, presentations or theses. This cross-disciplinary workshop seeks to remedy this problem by providing participants with basic academic skills.
The workshop’s main goals are:
- Helping students to identify and formulate good research questions.
- Enabling students to find and access relevant literature.
- Assisting students to structure papers and theses systematically.
- Teaching students the basics of academic writing.
Workshop Facilitator: Tom Lindemann is a Research Associate at the Center for Key Competencies and University Didactis at Saarland University. He is involved in the project Scientific comepetence as key competence, especially good scientific practice.
