In the course of this seminar we will consider the inventory and different functions of English intonation as well as the way prosodic realization interacts with other modules of grammar and language use - in particular with the construction of meaning and the pragmatic system. In addition to the works cited below, further references will be distributed in class. Notice that due to the compact nature of this class, it is mandatory to sign up for an available topic (to be confirmed by the instructor) and send the presentation to the instructor per email at the latest one week before the beginning of class.
