The course "EU as a Global Actor" aims to give participants an overview of the activities to what extent the EU fulfils its role as an international actor. To this end, the legal foundations as well as the instruments and procedures (incl. the European External Action Service) will be addressed. Based on this, the class will deal with the Common Trade and Investment Policy (including the various trade agreements such as CETA, EU-UK TCA), development cooperation and humanitarian aid (with references to the EU's migration policy) as well as the Common Foreign and Security Policy (taking into account a European defence policy) as independent policy areas. In addition, the external relations of the EU with third countries, in particular with the current accession candidates but also with neighbouring countries, will be discussed together. |
