In European Integration I, we learned about the meaning of this term and how it came to existence and developed particularly since 1945. We focussed on the European Union, which we also introduced as it stands today, taking a closer look as well on its institutions.
In European Integration II this summer term, held live via MS Teams Fridays from 12 pm - 2 pm (sharp, i.e. two hours), we will build on this (you may however participate even if you have missed European Integration I). We will briefly summarise winter term's contents before diving into the work of the EU institutions.
What do they do? Who pulls the strings? How powerful are the Member States? Is it all politics or more of an administrative character? How are EU acts adopted - and what effects do these acts have? How does the Court of Justice work?

Whoa, a whole lot of questions. - We will also take a look at some of the most important EU policy areas from which citizens benefit most: the fundamental freedoms but also competition policy.
And, with a view to the future, we'd like to discuss possible developments and reforms of the European Union with you and critically take a look at future EU enlargements.

Bemerkung

This course takes place in a hybrid format, so you can also participate online. After registration you will be also invited to the MS Teams classroom.

Leistungsnachweis

At the end of the term, you are asked to write a (graded) brief paper/abstract to obtain your credits, or a written exam.
