We will examine key linguistic concepts and their application to teaching and learning English in Germany (Saarland). The course explores ways of using research findings from various linguistic fields such as phonetics & phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, discourse analysis and pragmatics to inform teaching practice.
Depending on study programme and module, course requirements are as follows:
To obtain 5 Credit Points (new study programmes – Module: Ling I-LA) or a graded Schein (old study programme; WiPäd) students are expected to attend regularly, to prepare the reading assignments, to participate actively, to team-teach a practical session, and to hand in a written assignment by the end of the semester.
