Hamlet is one of Shakespeare’s most controversial plays, especially its central character has been the focus of the most diverse interpretations. Hamlet, the literary character, is probably the best-known, and yet one of the most inaccessible of, Shakespearean characters. Thus, Hamlet was seen as passive, active, romantic, absurd, political, emotional, unemotional, showing signs of madness, feigning signs of madness … In this course, we will take a closer look at some of the major interpretations of this fascinating character creation, and also at some modernizations, which try to transplant the Renaissance character into modern times.
Hamlet must be read for the second meeting!
